Phadka grasshopper: Hieroglyphus nigrorepletus (Acrididae: Orthoptera)
Damage symptoms: The larva feeds on the secondary roots and adults on the leaves.
Bionomics: Adult is a grey-colored weevil. A female weevil lays 98-350 eggs and they hatch in 3-12 days. Larvae and pupae are in the soil. There are four larval instars of 23-40 days. The pupal period lasts 3-9 days. The life cycle is completed in 29-58 days.
Management: Spray endosulfan 35 EC 0.07%.
